What Does it Mean to be a Survivalist Person?

Survival is a mentality, a crusade, an inner state of being that focuses on faith, honesty, knowledge, wisdom and patriotism. People who are survivalists have responsibility for their mind, body and soul. They have common sense and take responsibility for their lives. They are always learning and expanding their personal knowledge and tend to be very community-oriented.Some survivalists stockpile precious metals and tradable goods (such as common-caliber ammunition) because they assume that paper money will lose its value.

They acquire emergency medical and self-defense training, store food and water, prepare to be self-sufficient, and build structures such as survival retreats or underground shelters that can help them survive a catastrophe. In the early 1980s, nuclear war became a common fear, and some survivors built anti-atomic shelters. While some survivors believe in the long-term viability of Western civilization, they learn the principles and techniques necessary to survive life-threatening situations that can occur anytime, anywhere. These survival tactics are usually geared towards firearms, in order to ensure a method of defense against attackers or breaking and entering.Survival is a social movement of individuals or groups (called survivors or preparers) who proactively prepare for emergencies, including natural disasters, as well as disruptions of the social, political or economic order.

People who are not part of survival groups or non-political religious groups also prepare for emergencies. Other survivors have more specialized concerns, often related to adherence to apocalyptic religious beliefs. Survivors cite the Great Depression that followed the Wall Street collapse of 1929 as an example of the need to be prepared.Gerald Celente, founder of the Trends Research Institute, pointed out how many modern survivors deviate from the classic archetype, calling this new style neo-survival; you know, the cartoon, the guy with the AK-47 heads to the hills with enough ammunition and pork and beans to overcome the storm.Survivalists are people who are prepared for any kind of emergency situation. They are knowledgeable about self-defense techniques and have stockpiled resources such as food and water in case of an emergency.

They also build structures such as survival retreats or underground shelters that can help them survive a catastrophe. Survivalists are often community-oriented and have a strong belief in their own abilities to survive any situation.
